Background: Senora Maria Estergiglio - lawyer for the leaders of Uruguay's left-wing urban guerrillas, the Tupamaros - ha her home badly damaged by bombs at Montevideo on Thursday (10 february). French journalist Michele Ray was a guest of the house last November when she was kidnapped for a 40-hour period by another left-wing guerrilla group.

The Tupamaros have recently declared the end of a truce on "armed propaganda" which they have been keeping since the escape of 106 members from prison and the release of British Ambassador Sir Geoffrey Jackson last September. They promised "a popular response to the right-wing violence of the past months".

The Guerrillas have recently promised "a popular response to the right wing violence of the last months." They said they'd be ending a truce they've kept since last September.......when 106 members escaped from prison and British Ambassador Sir Geoffrey Jackson was released. The truce used to cover all forms of "armed propaganda".
