Background: The battle over the topless bathing suit in Dallas, Texas has reached a temporary stalemate. Pickets demanded that a fashionable store--the Orchid shop--remove the suit from a mannequin in the store window. The store complied, by selling the suit.
It expects to have a new supply in on Wednesday (24 June).
The suit was on display in the main window. It was a traffic stopper. The pickets came from a Baptist Church in Dallas, forty five of them, saying the suit was immoral. Some passersby jeered at the pickets and some pressed their noses up against the store windows to get a better view.
Dallas police say it is not illegal to sell the suit, only illegal to wear it. The only man really angry is the store janitor; he has had to wash the window six times.
