    The President of the Ivory Coast, M. Felix Houphouet-Boigny and his wife spent Wednesday (3 June), the second day of their three-day visit to Holland touring Rotterdam harbour.

    The President and his wife were accompanied by the Dutch Queen Juliana during their tour of the docks, and they lunched aboard the vessel "P. Coland."
    President Houphouet-boigny, who arrived in Holland on Tuesday, is the first of the Heads of State of the newly independent African countries to pay an official visit to Holland. Formerly a French colony, the Republic of the Ivory Coast became independent ten years ago, on August 7, 1960.

    Among the President's first day's activities in Holland was the laying of a wreath on the National War Monument.

    SYNOPSIS: The Dutch monarch, Queen Juliana, accompanied the visiting President of the Ivory Coast, M. Felix Houphouet-Boigny and his wife on Wednesday (June 3), the second day of their three-day official visit to Holland, when their agenda included a tour around the famous Rotterdam docks.

    President Houphouet-Boigny and his wife arrived in Holland by air on Tuesday, and were welcomed at the military airbase near Utrecht where they landed by Crown Princess Beatrix and her husband Prince Claus on behalf of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard.

    Queen Juliana and her guests lunched aboard the vessel "P. Coland", anchored in the harbour. The President is the first of the Heads of State of the newly independent African countries to pay an official visit to Holland.

    Mrs. Houphouet-Boigny chatted with the Queen as they enjoyed the view of the river and the dockside activities. After being greeted at Utrecht, the President and his wife had travelled to Amsterdam by train and were greeted by the Queen and her Consort.
