Background: Prince Albert, heir apparent to the Belgian throne, and his bride of July 2, princess Paola, were filmed while shopping in Formentor, Majorca, where they spent their honeymoon.
Another world personality seen enjoying the tropical splendour of the holiday island in the Mediterranean, was Charlie Chaplin. He and his wife Oona, are just two of many thousands who have discovered Majorca's 'magic'
During their honeymoon the royal couple boarded the motor yacht 'Llagut' to cross the bay for a swim. Photographers and reporters, in three motor boats intercepted the royal yacht about half way across the bay and tried to board her. Prince Albert and Princess Paola clambered into a lifeboat to elude the newshounds, and the 'Llagut' swung around and fled for shore. As the royal couple scrambled ashore, police on land fired shots towards the pursuing photographer's boats, who immediately fled.
Later police called at the Formentor Hotel and took a French Cameraman in custody. Police also seized photographs taken by hidden cameramen of the couple bathing--the Princess in a bikini
