Background: Arsenal beat Liverpool 2 - 1 in the Final of the British Football Association Cu at Wembley today (Saturday), making themselves only the second team this century to attain the much coveted Double--the F.A. Cup and the League Championship. Arsenal won the championship last week in a final match decider and true to their last minute style beat Liverpool in the Cup Final with a goal in the last minutes of extra time.
The first 90 minutes saw a hard-fought battle between two evenly matched sides in the classic Wembley Cup Final pattern--30 minutes to settle down, then great football. No score by the final whistle meant 30 minutes of extra time, 15 minutes each way.
Liverpool went ahead with a finely-taken goal by Steve Highway, acclaimed by many sports writers as the "find of the season". The Arsenal equalized with a scrambled goal by George Graham. After this the 100,000 capacity crowd was treated to a display of tense, attacking football from both teams, until Charlie George, also described as a "find of the season", shot the winning goal for Arsenal from outside the penalty box, with only minutes to go.

Liverpool burst away. A through pass to Steve Highway, and his famous speed takes him past the back. A fine shot, and Liverpool take the lead.
Liverpool are one-nil up, and it looks all over. After Arsenal's rigorous league programme, they were tired. But they came out fighting and pressed all the time. A goalmouth scramble, and George Graham came through the players to push the ball home.
It's one-all, until the second half of extra time.
