    MORE THAN 1,000 STUDENTS CLASHED WITH POLICE ON SATURDAY (28 JUNE) IN THE SECOND DAY OF RIOTING OVER GOVERNMENT MOVES TO ALLOW PRESIDENT CHUNG-HEE PARK TO STAND FOR A THIRD TERM.

    THE STUDENTS POURED INTO THE STREETS OF SEOUL FROM THE CAMPUS OF KOREA UNIVERSITY, A MAJOR PRIVATE SCHOOL IN NORTHWESTERN SEOUL. THEY WERE MET BY POLICE USING TEAR GAS AND SWINGING BATONS.

    THE STUDENTS MARCHED THROUGH THE STREETS CHANTING SLOGANS AND CARRYING PLACARDS PROTESTING A GOVERNMENT PARTY MOVE TO ELIMINATE A CONSTITUTIONAL BAN TO ALLOW PRESIDENT PARK TO SEEK A THIRD TERM IN 1971.

    ABOUT 7,000 HELMETED POLICE WEARING GAS MASKS FIRED TEAR GAS SHELLS AND DROVE THE STUDENTS BACK TO THEIR CAMPUS AFTER A 30 MINUTE BATTLE.

    NO CASUALTIES WERE REPORTED.
