    CARRYING BANNERS AND PLACARDS CONDEMNING THE RESUMPTION OF NUCLEAR TESTS, MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND PEOPLE WALKED IN SILENT PROCESSION THROUGH THE STREETS OF NEW DELHI, INDIA, SEPT 13. THIS IS THE FIRST DEMONSTRATION IN INDIA SINCE RUSSIA RESUMED TESTING NUCLEAR DEVICES.

    WELL TO THE FORE WERE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL MARXIST ASSOCIATION, A BODY CONSISTING MAINLY OF EX-COMMUNIST WHO BROKE AWAY FROM THE INDIAN COMMUNIST PARTY WHEN IT REFUSED TO DENOUNCE CHINA FOR INCIDENTS ALONG THE INDIAN BORDER.

    THEIR ROUTE TOOK THEM THROUGH THE DIPLOMATIC ENCLAVE, PAST THE SOVIET EMBASSY. BANNER SLOGANS REMINDED RUSSIA OF PLEDGES MADE AT THE GENEVA NUCLEAR DISARMAMENT CONFERENCES, AND CALLED UPON SOVIET LEADERS TO HEED PRIME MINISTER NEHRU'S APPEAL TO HALT TEST.
