    CARRYING BANNERS AND PLACARDS, THE 15,000 MARCHERS CONVERGED FIRST ON THE FESTIVAL HALL FOR A MASS MEETING.

    THE MELBOURNE TRADES HALL COUNCIL, ORGANIZED THE MEETING AND PROTEST MARCH. AT THE MEETING, THE MEN PASSED A RESOLUTION SEEKING AN IMMEDIATE AUDIENCE FOR A DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER, MR. BOLTE. THEY ALSO ASKED FOR A STATE PRICE CONTROL SYSTEM. LATER, THEY MARCHED FROM FESTIVAL HALL TO PARLIAMENT HOUSE CHANTING "SACK BOLTE, SACK BOLTE." HUNDREDS TRIED TO MOUNT THE STEPS OF PARLIAMENT HOUSE BUT WERE TURNED BACK BY POLICE.
