    Just before setting out for a new round of crucial Middle East peace negotiations, United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger outlined prospects during a Washington news conference on Thursday (December 6).

    Dr. Kissinger said that as a final resort the United States would, with extreme reluctance, consider stationing U.S. troops alongside Soviet forces in order to enforce the Middle East peace.

    But he was at pains to emphasise that much of the onus now rests with the Arab countries. And he felt that the Arab oil embargo against the United States should be immediately reconsidered:
    Dr. Kissinger sets out on his new pilgrimage of peace this week with the ultimate aim of getting the Arabs and Israelis to negotiate a peace face-to-face for t he first time in their history -- despite the breakdown of their initial talks.

    SYNOPSIS: On the eve of setting out from Washington for his latest Middle East peace mission, U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger reviewed prospects at a news conference. Besides seeking progress in the peace negotiations, he'll also be trying to get the Arabs to lift their oil embargo:
