    STUDENTS AT THE ROYAL COLLEGE, NAIROBI, DEMONSTRATED ON MONDAY FOR A BRIDGE OR SUBWAY ACROSS THE PRINCESS ELIZABETH HIGHWAY WHERE IT JOINS KINGSWAY.THE STUDENTS CLAIM THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS CROSSING WHICH THEY HAVE TO USE BETWEEN THEIR HOSTELS AND THE COLLEGE EVERY DAY.

    A SPOKESMAN FOR THE STUDENTS SAID THEY'D DECIDED TO MAKE ANOTHER EFFORT TO HAVE THEIR DEMANDS TAKEN NOTICE OF; AND AS A RESULT ALL THE STUDENTS CROSSED THE HIGHWAY IN SINGLE FILE.ONE OF THE STUDENTS SAID THAT WHEN THEY TRIED THIS ON THEIR WAY BACK LATER, POLICE INTERVENED.AND WHEN THEY REFUSED TO DISPERSE, SOME WERE ARRESTED.

    MOST OF THE STUDENTS THEN WENT TO THE POLICE STATION, AND WERE AGAIN TOLD TO DISPERSE.THEY REFUSED, AND A RIOT SQUAD MOVED FORWARD.SOME OF THE STUDENTS CLAIMED LATER THAN THEY HAD BEEN ARRESTED FOR "DOING NOTHING BUT LOOKING ON".

    MEANWHILE, THE MAYOR OF NAIROBI, ALDERMAN RUBIA, SAID HE HAD SPOKEN TO THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, MR CATLING, WHO SAID HE WOULD PERSONALLY LOOK INTO THE QUESTION OF THE ARRESTED STUDENTS.
