ONE OF BRITAIN'S MOST POPULAR EXPORTS, THE BEATLES SINGING GROUP, IS ON THE MOVE AGAIN.?

  • Description

ONE OF BRITAIN'S MOST POPULAR EXPORTS, THE BEATLES SINGING GROUP, IS ON THE MOVE AGAIN. THEY FLEW FROM LONDON AIRPORT TODAY (SUNDAY) TO START A TOUR OF THE FAR EAST, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND. HOWEVER THEIR REGULAR DRUMMER, RINGO STARR WAS NOT WITH THEM.

HE IS IN A LONDON HOSPITAL WITH ACUTE TONSILITIS, AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCOMPANY HIS THREE GUITAR-PLAYING COMPANIONS ON THE TWO-DAY VISIT TO DENMARK AND HOLLAND WHICH ENDED ONLY THIS WEEKEND.

IN HIS PLACE ON THE FLIGHT TODAY, WITH JOHN LENNON, PAUL McCARTNEY AND GEORGE HARRISON, WENT JIMMY NICHOL, WHO PLAYED THE DRUMS FOR THE BEATLES IN COPENHAGEN AND AMSTERDAM. TODAY IT WAS STATED FROM THE HOSPITAL THAT RINGO'S CONDITION IS IMPROVING, AND HE IS EXPECTED TO REJOIN THE BEATLES IN AUSTRALIA.

A BOAC BOEING JETLINER BOUND FOR HONG KONG WAS RESCHEDULED FOR TAKE-OFF ONE HOUR LATER AS A CONCESSION TO THE GROUP, BECAUSE THE YOUNG MEN, WORKING TO A TIGHT SCHEDULE, WERE NOT ABLE TO REACH THE AIRPORT FOR ITS NORMAL TAKE-OFF TIME.

ONLY ONE HOUR BEFORE THEY WERE DUE TO LEAVE LONDON FOR HONG KONG THE FOUR ARRIVED FROM AMSTERDAM IN ANOTHER AIRLINER TO A WILD WELCOME FROM 200 FANS SHOUTING: "WELCOME HOME BEATLES -- DON'T GO AWAY..."
