    After months of duty in the Middle East, the Senegalese contingent of United Nations troops returned to Dakar on Saturday (22 February).

    More than 50 troops from the nation's army were attached to the United Nations peace keeping force in the Sinai buffer zone between Israeli and Egyptian forces.

    There were many tearful reunions at Daka airport when families were reunited after months of separation the soldiers and their officers will be given leave before reporting back to duty in their own country.

    During their stay in the Sinai the Senegalese troops were called on to accompany U.N. teams investigating reported incidents between Israel and Egypt. For a time they were stationed in Cairo.
