  • Description

Space scientists in the United States of America are developing a "reusable" spacecraft in an attempt to cut down on the expense of sending craft into space and leaving them there.

The new spacecraft, called a Reusable Space Shuttle, looks like an aircraft. It can be launched into space on a rocket, move there under its own power, and return to land on earth like an ordinary aircraft.

This film, just released by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration, shows animation of the craft in development and in orbit, and actualities of the craft dropping off its air carrier and landing.
