    KING SAUD HAS TOLD THE PEOPLE OF SAUDI ARABIA THAT HIS PRIVATE PLANE - WHICH CRASHED IN THE ITALIAN ALPS TODAY (WEDNESDAY) - WAS BLOWN UP BY A BOMB.THIS WAS THE MESSAGE BROADCAST BY MECCA RADIO AFTER THE KING HAD PHONED FROM HIS HOTEL IN NICE TO SAY HE WAS SAFE.HE SAID HIS PEOPLE "KNEW WELL WHO DID THIS CONSPIRACY."
    THE 61-YEAR-OLD KING, WITH MOST OF HIS ENTOURAGE, ARRIVED IN NICE ON TUESDAY NIGHT FOR A FORTNIGHT'S "PEACE AND QUIET" FOLLOWING TREATMENT IN A SWISS CLINIC FOR HYPERTENSION.WITHIN A FEW HOURS, THE COMET IN WHICH HE ARRIVED HAD CRASHED IN THE ALPS AND POLICE GUARDS HAD MOVED INTO HIS HOTEL BECAUSE OF A BOMB SCARE.

    DESCRIBED AS A FLYING PALACE, THE COMET HAD RETURNED TO GENEVA TO PICK UP OTHER MEMBERS OF THE KING'S SUITE.ON THE WAY BACK TO NICE, IT CRASHED INTO MOUNT MATTO, JUST ACROSS THE ITALIAN BORDER.AND EYE-WITNESS SAID THE PLANE BURST INTO FLAMES HIGH IN THE SKY, FOUND NO SURVIVORS.

    PRINCE MANSOUR, ONE OF THE KING'S SONS, TOLD NEWSMEN, 18 PEOPLE WERE ON BOARD - NINE OF THE ROYAL STAFF, AND NINE BRITISH CREW.
