  • Description

TOKYO: Seven thousand Tokyo children -- watched eagerly by another fifty thousand -- mass drill with toothbrushes to remind all children that all good kids must keep their teeth well brushed.

Each of the seven thousand - from kindergartens and primary schools in Tokyo - scrub their teeth up and down in thysmical strokes, then thrust out their right arms in a determined gesture - to march music from a combination of six military bands and staccato barks from Riichi Egi, the father of morning exercises on the Tokyo radio.

The event is a promotion stunt staged by one of Japan's largest toothpaste manufacturers with cosponsorship of the City Board of Health and the Japanese Dental Association. On this occasion, Dr. Paul H. Jeserich, President of the American Dental Association, addresses the meeting.
