  • Description

Recently, assault forces from Israel have been making daily raids on villages in the Lebanon close to the Lebanese-Israeli border, blowing up houses allegedly used by Palestinian guerrillas.

The village of Kfar Shouba has apparently been regarded as the main guerrilla base in the Jebel Ros area on the slopes of Mount Hermon - part of the region known as "Fatahland".

Normally Kfar Shouba is a farming community of 1,500 people, but now it is practically deserted and all its houses have been damaged or destroyed. The civilian population has moved en messes to the nearby village of Marjeyoun, where they have been given temporary shelter in the village school.

The Kfar Shouba refugees are being tended by the Red Cross and were visited on Wednesday (22 January) by the Lebanese Minister of Planning, Mr. Zaki Mazboudi.
