Background: ENGLAND, BRIGHTON & BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, LITTLE KIMPLE

Police investigating the bomb attack on Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet ministers in Brighton two days ago (12/10) have now released video pictures of the explosion. The shots were taken by a police security camera as the bomb ripped through part of the Grand Hotel on Brighton seafront, where senior Conservatives, attending their party's annual conference were staying. Security forces believe the attack could signal the start of a new terror campaign, in Britain by the Irish Republican Army (IRA). They said the IRA, which claimed responsibility for Friday's blast, was determined to show that it was still a formidable force. The head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist division, Commander Bill Hucklesby, said there were clear signs of a shift in IRA tactics. In twelve years of bombing on the British mainland, the IRA has concentrated on shopping centres, army barracks and bars, only occasionally singling out public figures. But Commander Hucklesby said now the IRA was out to get key government chiefs, adding that Mrs Thatcher will have to be even more closely protected. More than thirty people were injured in Friday's bomb attack and four people, including a Conservative MP, Sir Anthony Berry, were killed, the last body, that of Mrs Jean Shattock, the wife of Gordon, the Chairman of the western area Conservatives, was removed from the sixth floor of the wrecked hotel on 13/10. Police have already detained two men and are holding them in Brighton but admit they appear to have no connection with the bombing. Meanwhile Mrs Thatcher and her husband Denis attended morning prayers at the local church near the Prime Ministers country retreat at Chequers in Buckinghamshire
