    THE LAST OF THREE CHURCHES BUILT AT THE COMMONWEALTH CAMP, MALACCA, ON THE WEST COAST OF MALAYA, WAS DEDICATED ON SUNDAY, APRIL 19.

    THE PROTESTANT DENOMINATIONS CHURCH WAS BLESSED AND DEDICATED BY CHAPLAIN GENERAL H. CUNNINGHAM, A FORMER PRISONER OF WAR OF THE JAPANESE DURING THE SINGAPORE OCCUPATION OF WORLD WAR TWO.

    THE FIRST CHURCH TO BE CONSECRATED AT THE CAMP, HOME OF THE 28TH COMMONWEALTH INFANTRY BRIGADE GROUP, WAS A ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, EARLIER THIS YEAR. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE DEDICATION OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND CHAPEL SHORTLY AFTER.

    THE SERVICE WAS ATTENDED BY THE GARRISON COMMANDER, BRIGADIER DAWSON, WHO PRESENTED THE CHURCH TO THE CHAPLAIN GENERAL, CHAPLAINS AND MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION OF OTHER PROTESTANT CHURCHES.

    AFTER THE SERVICE, MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY OF MEETING THE CHAPLAIN GENERAL AT AN INFORMAL TEA PARTY HELD AT ONE OF THE SCHOOLS IN THE CAMP.
