    PRESIDENT ALBERT BONGO OF GABON ARRIVED IN BRAZZAVILLE YESTERDAY (SATURDAY) ACCOMPANIED BY PRESIDENT ALPHONSE MASSAMBA-DEBAT OF CONGO-BRAZZAVILLE. BOTH PRESIDENTS HAD BEEN ATTENDING THE MEETING OF HEADS OF STATE OF THE CENTRAL AFRICAN CUSTOMS AND ECONOMIC UNION (UDEAC) IN BANGUI, CAPITAL OF THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC.

    PRESIDENT BONGO, WHO SUCCEEDED THE LATE PRESIDENT M'BA, WHO DIED IN PARIS LAST MONTH, SAID LAST NIGHT THAT HIS CURRENT VISIT TO CONGO-BRAZZAVILLE HAD DISPROVED SOME PEOPLE OF BAD FAITH WHO SAID RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES WERE CLOUDED.

    "DESPITE THE DIVERGENCE OF POLITICAL OPINIONS, "HE SAID, "OUR TWO COUNTRIES ARE TRYING, AND IN CONSEQUENCE AN EFFORT BY ONE OF US CAN BE OF PROFIT TO THE OTHER." HE WAS SPEAKING AT A BANQUET GIVEN IN HIS HONOUR BY PRESIDENT MASSAMBA-DEBAT.

    REPLYING, THE CONGOLESE PRESIDENT PRAISED THE 'DYNAMIC PRESIDENT BONGO' AND WELCOMED THE FRIENDSHIP LINKING THE CENTRAL AFRICAN STATES, MAINLY THROUGH THE CENTRAL AFRICAN CUSTOMS UNION.

    THE TWO PRESIDENTS ARRIVED IN BRAZZAVILLE ABOARD A SPECIAL NATIONAL CONGOLESE ARMY PLANE. PRESIDENT BONGO WAS DUE TO RETURN TO HIS CAPITAL, LIBREVILLE, TODAY (SUNDAY).
