    A financial agreement between the Ivory Coast and France, by which France would help finance four areas of Ivorian development, was signed in Abidjan on Tuesday (30 June). The French Ambassador, M. Jaques Raphael Leygues and Mr. Konan Bedie, the Ivorian Minister of Economy and Finance, signed the agreement, which will benefit agriculture and education. The total of the aid is 147 million Central African Francs.

    SYNOPSIS: At the Ministry of Finance and Economy in Abidjan on Tuesday, the Ivorian Finance Minister Konan Bedie welcomed the French Ambassador, M. Jaques Raphael Leygues for the signing of a financial aid agreement.

    The aid is in the framework of the Aid and Cooperation Fund, which has already contributed considerably to development projects in the Ivory Coast. The French aid will go towards four projects. The first is an inventory of 250,000 hectares of forest land in the South West of the Ivory Coast, for a wood pulp factory. The value of this grant is 35 million Central African Francs. The second grant, worth 31.5 million francs, will go towards spreading agriculture in the South West. 132 million francs will help completion of the infrastructure of the San Pedro Port. And the rest of the 147 million franc aid will be invested in primary and secondary education.
