  • Description

The family of the kidnapped Italian politician Aldo Moro was believed to have received another message, either from him or from his abductors, at the weekend (7 April). However, the government has not confirmed the existence of such a message, having imposed a strict blackout of news.

SYNOPSIS: The message was said to have arrived at Signor Moro's apartment home in the Italian capital of Rome. If it was from the former Prime Minister himself, it would be his fifth since he was kidnapped on March 16.

Meanwhile, police continues to carry out strict and vigorous security checks on vehicles and persons. The latest message from Red Brigades, who have claimed responsibility for the outrage, was believed to contain concrete demands for his release. But no details of the letter have been released. An earlier message from the captors demanded the release of " all Communist prisoners in Italy". And there is speculation the kidnappers have included the names of extremists held in West German, Swiss and Austrian jails.
