  • Description

A JURY OF EIGHT MEN AND FOUR WOMEN TODAY (SATURDAY) BEGAN CONSIDERING WHETHER STRIP-CLUB OPERATOR JACK RUBY IS GUILTY OF THE MURDER OF LEE HARVEY OSWALD, PRESIDENT KENNEDY'S ALLEGED ASSASSIN.

IF THE JURY AGREES THAT RUBY WAS INSANE AT THE MOMENT HE SHOT OSWALD, THEY MUST RETURN A VERDICT OF NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY.

IF THEY DECIDE HE IS STILL INSANE, HE WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY COMMITTED TO AN INSTITUTION. UNDER TEXAS LAW THE JURY SETS THE SENTENCE AS WELL AS GIVING THE VERDICT.

THE JURY HEARD THE FIVE HOUR SUMMING UP FROM JUDGE JOE B. BROWN EARLY TODAY AFTER HEARING 66 WITNESSES AND LEGAL ARGUMENTS FROM SOME OF THE BEST LEGAL BRAINS IN THE COUNTRY DURING THE MONTH-LONG HEARING.

THEY RETIRED FOR THE NIGHT, THEN BEGAN THEIR DELIBERATIONS AT 9:07 A.M. LOCAL TIME (1507 G.M.T.).
