SECOND PLACE WENT TO BILLY BILSLAND OF SCOTLAND, WITH ENGLEBERT OPDEBEEK OF BELGIUM MUST BEHIND HIM IN THIRD PLACE IN A SPRINT FINISH.

    THE 21 RIDERS IN THE RACE INCLUDED FOUR MEMBERS OF THE CZECH TEAM, A DUTCHMAN, A BELGIAN AND THE BRITISH RIDERS, MOST OF THEM CLUB RIDERS NOT OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARD. SOON AFTER THE FINAL LAP BEGAN, FIVE MEN BROKE AWAY FROM THE MAIN GROUP TO CATCH THE LEADING GROUP, BUT WERE UNABLE TO MAINTAIN THE PACE.

    BETTINSON WON IN THE FOUR HOURS 59 MINUTES 15.3 SECONDS1/2 BILSLAND WAS 4-59-51 8 AND OPDEBEEK 4-59-52 3.
