    Background: The first batch of the Indian troops assigned for duties on the Gaza strip along the Israeli-Egyptian border, left New Delhi by special Air India plane on 31st October. They marched down the airport smartly to reach the aircraft.

    The men are from the Para Battalion of India. 33 soldiers including three officers left in the advance party. The bulk of troops will sail shortly for Egypt.

    Addressing the troops Lt. Col. Gonzales called upon the men to uphold the traditions of discipline and service of the Indian Army. He praised the men who have completed their service in Egypt and are expected back in India shortly.
