    Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia continued his triumphant tour of Nigeria on Thursday (January 20th), when huge crowds gathered to cheer his entry to Kaduna, capital of the North Central state. The Emperor, accompanied by the Nigerian leader General Yakubu Gowon, drove in an open car to a colourful durbar where hundreds of dancers performed traditional dances. The Emperor's message for the occasion -- the people of African must work with determination to achieve unity of the continent.

    SYNOPSIS: A highlight of the Madunu visit was a grand durbar held in the Emperor's honour. Hundreds of dancers gave a colourful and traditional display. The Emperor was later to comment enthusiastically on the cultural heritage of Nigeria. But he stressed that different traditional shouldn't lead to divisions amongst the people. Having achieved national stability, the countries of Africa should work together for the unity of the continent. The state visit was to include talks between the two leaders on African affairs and on bilateral relations.
