  • Description

The first women ever to complete military training in The Tanzania People's Defence Forces joined with their male counterparts in a passing-out parade witnessed by Prime Minister Rashidi Kawawa on Monday (August 14).

The girl recruits had completed erectly the same rigorous three-month training course as the men. After being inspected by Mr. Kawawa they joined in the swearing-in bath pledging full support for 'Liberation Of Africa.'
Earlier Mr. Kawawa had talks with Britain's Ministerial envoy Geoffrey Rippon, fresh from his abortive trip to Uganda to try and discuss the threatened expulsion of 50,000 Asians with President Amin.

Before leaving for Nairobi Mr. Rippon briefed Mr. Kawawa and Tanzanian Foreign Minister John Malecela on the practical and social problems facing Britain with the pending mass expulsion of the Asians from Uganda.
