  • Description

Down in the ghost town of Durango, Mexico, where John Wayne and a host of other screen cowboys have shot it out in the dust, they are busy making another movie - but of a very different kind. If the producers are to be believed, it is a horror movie so frightening that it would have the pistol-packing heroes of the past leaving town at full gallop.
The film is called "Devil's Rain" and it starts Ernest Borgnine and former movie queen Ida Lupino in a tale of devil worship and the occult.
Director Robert Faust has mixed in the usual ingredients of human sacrifice, lust and blood, but perhaps the most horrific scenes in the film shows various characters apparently melting in front of the cameras. It is all part of the make-up man's art, of course but chillingly realistic.
The producers' avowed intention is to make that other screen shocker "The Exorcist" seem comparatively tame. But in at least one aspect, "Devil's Rain" is the same as every other movie. For in the end, the forces of right triumph over those of evil."
