    PRODUCTION OF ALL BRITISH MOTOR CORPORATION MINI VEHICLES HAS STOPPED BECAUSE OF THE STRIKE AT DUNLOP'S FACTORY IN COVENTRY.AT B.M.C's COWLEY AND LONGBRIDGE FACTORIES 5,500 WORKERS ARE NOW IDLE.PRODUCTION OF SEVENTEEN HUNDRED VEHICLES A DAY WILL NOW BE LOST.THE MANAGEMENT SAY ANOTHER THREE THOUSAND WORKERS ELSEWHERE WILL HAVE TO BE LAID OFF IN A FEW DAYS IF THE STRIKE CONTINUES.THE HOLD-UP HAS COME AT THE START OF THE SPRING SELLING SEASON, WHEN DEMAND IS ALREADY FAR OUTSTRIPPING PRODUCTION.

    AT DUNLOP'S 500 MEN ARE ON STRIKE OVER THE DISMISSAL OF TWO SHOP STEWARDS.THE UNIONS WANT THEM REINSTATED BEFORE A GENERAL RETURN TO WORK.TONIGHT, LEADERS OF THE TWO UNIONS INVOLVED - THE TRANSPORT AND GENERAL WORKERS AND THE AMALGAMATED ENGINEERING UNION-ARE DISCUSSING THE DISPUTE WITH THE ENGINEERING EMPLOYERS FEDERATION AT THEIR LONDON HEADQUARTERS.
