    FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, BRITISH PLOUGHMEN HAVE WON THE WORLD TITLE, BUT THIS YEAR THEY WERE NOT IN THE FIRST THREE. H.A. MAGSON OF NEW ZEALAND CAME SECOND, AND HANS O. SYLLING OF NORWAY THIRD.

    THIS NINTH WORLD CONTEST TOOK PLACE AT THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE AT GRIGNON, NEAR VERSAILLES. PRESIDENT DE GAULLE ATTENDED THE OPENING DAY AND INSPECTED TRACTORS AND THEIR TEAMS BEFORE THE START (SEE PROD No. 7113/61). AMONG COMPETING NATIONS: AUSTRIA, AUSTRALIA, CANADA, DENMARK, FRANCE, GERMAN FEDERAL REPUBLIC, BRITAIN, ITALY, NEW ZEALAND, NORWAY, SWEDEN AND YUGOSLAVIA.
