  • Description

ABOUT 500 DEMONSTRATORS FROM THE RIGHT-WING HINDU JANA SANGH PARTY MARCHED ON THE U.S. EMBASSY YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) PROTESTING AGAINST U.S. AID TO PAKISTAN.

OFFICIALS OF THE JANA SANGH PARTY HANDED A LETTER IN TO THE EMBASSY SAYING THAT INDIANS WOULD CONSIDER ANY RESUMPTION OF AMERICAN ARM AID TO PAKISTAN AS AN UNFRIENDLY ACT. THE LETTER SAID SUCH ACTION WOULD IRREVOCABLY DAMAGE INDO-AMERICAN RELATIONS "TO THE JOY AND BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNIST AND TOTALITARIAN FORCES IN INDIA, ASIA AND THE WORLD". REFERRING TO THE PRESENT STOPPAGE OF U.S. AID FOLLOWING THE INDO - PAKISTAN FIGHTING, IT SAID "INDIA WOULD RATHER FOREGO ALL ECONOMIC AID AND FOOD SUPPLIES THAN GIVE WAY TO BLACKMAILING".

NEARLY 200 POLICE FORMED A CORDON OUTSIDE THE MAIN GATE OF THE EMBASSY TO PREVENT THE DEMONSTRATORS GETTING TO CLOSE.
