    THE RADIO SAID THERE WAS WIDESPREAD POPULAR SUPPORT FOR THE RESIGNATION OF THE GOVERNMENT AND FOR THE HOLDING OF DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS. AND UNIDENTIFIED VOICE PROCLAIMED: "THE PEOPLE OF TOGO ARE REGAINING THEIR HEIGHTS AND PUTTING AND END TO INTRIGUES."
    YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) THE PRESIDENT ANNOUNCED THAT HE WAS DISMISSING ALL MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNMENT AND WITH VICE-PRESIDENT ANTOINE MEATCHI WAS TAKING OVER ALL EXECUTIVE POWER.

    PRESIDENT GRUNITZKY BECAME PRESIDENT IN 1963 AFTER TOGO'S FIRST PRESIDENT SYLVANUS OLYMPIO WAS OVERTHROWN AND ASSASSINATED IN AN ARMY COUP.
