    John Akii-Bua, gold medal winner in the 400-metres hurdles at the 1972 Munich Olympics, and other Ugandan athletes were given a warm welcome home by President Amin when they arrived home from the Games on Friday (15 September).

    President Amin also granted all Asian members of the team Ugandan citizenship "in recognition of their sportsmanship," exempting them from his recent expulsion order. The Asian participants involved are mainly hockey players.

    SYNOPSIS: In Kampala on Friday, members of Uganda's Olympics team were given a warm welcome by President Amin when they arrived home form Munich Olympics. Particularly gold medallist John Akii-Bua, winner of the 400-metres hurdles.

    The President granted all Asian members of the team Ugandan citizenship, which means they are now exempt form his recent expulsion order. The Asian athletes concerned are mainly hockey players.

    After the congratulations, a dinner party hosted by President Amin and his wife.
