    President Felix Houphouet-Boigny of the Ivory Coast has called for more social justice in the world. He was speaking at the opening of the regional conference for Africa of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), on Tuesday (27 September).

    SYNOPSIS: President Houphouet-Boigny opened the 10-day conference, which is the fifth to be held covering the African region. It ends on October the sixth, and is examining a number of crucial issues about the social development of African countries.

    The conference is being attended by about 500 delegates representing all 41 member countries. President Houphouet-Boigny told delegates that more social justice in the world would be "a positive contribution to peace". He said that current world troubles stemmed mostly from the fact that social considerations were ignored....and man was "reduced to the rank of a machine for production".
