    THE PRESIDENT, ON A THREE-DAY UNOFFICIAL VISIT HERE IN THE COURSE OF AN ASIAN TOUR, LATER CUT THE RIBBON AT A NEW ROADWAY LEADING TO A MEDICAL CENTRE AT PRESENT UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

    WEST GERMAN CHURCH AND WELFARE INSTITUTIONS CONTRIBUTED MONEY TOWARDS THE 625,000 POUNDS STERLING CENTRE.

    THE PRESIDENT THEN VISITED THE NEW TERRITORIES, WHICH UNDER A TREATY SIGNED IN 1898, WILL REVERT TO THE CHINESE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC IN 34 YEARS FROM NOW.

    DOCTOR LUEBKE WAS THE FIRST GERMAN PRESIDENT EVER TO VISIT THE COLONY.
