This means that I shall be just sitting on a table to sign the surrender because he already will be having the veto with him. If you don't do so-and-so we shall remain where we are. Background: Egyptian President Anwar Sadat met newsmen in London on Saturday (8 November) and said he was completely satisfied with his talks on opening up major new arms supplies from Britain.

He told a news conference on the third day of his visit that British Prime Minister Harold Wilson was helping him in an attempt to mount diplomatic moves in Western Europe towards what he called "a global solution" for the Middle East.

He wants backing for a resumed Geneva conference, with the Palestinians attending.

President Sadat -- who was in Britain after 10 days in the United States where he received special attention from U.S. leaders but no commitment for arms deals -- seemed delighted with his British visit when he met the newsmen in his London hotel.

He has been asking British businessmen to invest in Egypt and he wants western technological know-how to build up the Egyptian economy.

Militant Arab students protesting against Egyptian President Anwar Sadat's interim peace agreement with Israel picked the hotel. Some 70 fellow students began a sit-in the previous day at the offices of the League of Arab States, evicting 20 staff.
