    On Friday (22 November) -- the second day of his recent visit to Ivory Coast -- Somalia's President General Mohammed Siad Barre, carried out a tour of inspection of one of the country's longest-established factories, in a suburb of the capital, Abidjan.

    The Somali leader's visit was pet of a fact-finding tour of Africa in his capacity as President of the Organization of African Unity.

    General Barre was greeted by factory director, Mr. Andre Blonhorn, who accompanied the distinguished visitor on his tour of the factory's processes of production and packaging. The plant produces edible oils and soap, and uses a wide range of domestically produce raw materials.

    The Somali President left Ivory Coast on the following day (23 November) to continue his fact-finding in Liberia. Before his departure, he issued a joint communique with Ivory Coast's President Felix Houphouet-Boigny denouncing the international systems of economic, monetary and commercial exchange practiced by industrialized nations. The two leaders described the present systems as balanced against developing countries, and called for increased co-operation among these countries towards the establishment of a new economic order.

    SYNOPSIS: The Blonhorn factory in Ivory Coast's capital, Abidjan. On Friday the factory was toured by Somalia's President, General Mohammed Siad Barre. The Somali leader was welcomed on arrival by director, Mr. Andre Blonhorn.

    It was the second day of General Barre's official visit to the country. President of the Organization of African Unity, he is at the moment engaged on a fact-finding tour of the continent. During the tour of inspection through the factory, the Somali President examined the production of edible oils -- one of the factory's chief products.

    The factory also produces soap ... both for domestic consumption and for export. On the following day, General Barre issued a joint communique with Ivory Coast's President Felix Houphouet-Boigny calling for co-operation between developing nations towards the establishment of a new world economic order. In the Blonhorn factory, General Barre certainly saw an example of self-sufficient production. The plant produces all its goods from raw materials grown within Ivory Coast.
