  • Description

Members of the E1-A1 which helped thwart a hi-jack attempt over the English Channel on Sunday (6th September) before making an emergency landing at London's Heathrow Airport, returned to Lydda Airport in Israel on Monday evening (7th September.)
The crew was met on arrival and quickly ushered into a bus which drove to the terminal building where journalists and photographers were waiting in hope of a press conference.

Captain Uri Bar-Lev and members of his Boeing crew spent some time answering questions on the hi-jacking attempt and the crew's involvement in the emergency. Asked who was involved in the shooting on board, the crew could only reply that E1-A1 personnel do not carry weapons. Captain Bar-Lev said the entire incident lasted only four minutes, and that quick thinking by his cabin crew was the reason they had been able to return home, and not now be in Amman or Syria. The attempt took place while the 707 aircraft was 13 nautical miles off the British coastal town of Clacton.
