Background: Mr. Robert Murphy, American Deputy Under-Secretary of State arrived in Paris today to confer with M. Gaillard, the Prime Minister, as part of his mission to facilitate good relations between France and Tunisia. He is due to leave for Tunis tomorrow to confer with the authorities there. On his arrival at the airport Mr. Murphy was met by the American Ambassador in Paris, Mr. Houghton.
