  • Description

Claude Lelouch, the young French film director who made "A Man and A Woman" and "Live for Life", is currently shooting his latest film "Le Voyou" (The Rascal) in Paris. Yesterday (Friday) he was putting the finishing touches on one scene - a film within the film, with a stylized gang-land shooting and dance sequence.

Thirty-two-year-old Lelouch, whose technique is usually to keep his actors in the dark about the script so as to get real reactions from them when faced with each situation, has slightly departed from this line in this scene from "Le Voyou". The film stars Jean-Louis Trintignant who plays the role of a man on the run from the police and, in one scene, takes refuge in a cinema showing a musical-gangster film entitled itself "Le Voyou" - and this is the sequence being filmed here, with American dancer Victor Upshaw and his company doing the dancing.
