Britain's Christine Gosden beat five Danish girls to win the women's 100 metre breast-stroke.
Highlight of the high and springboard diving events was a spectacular display by European champion Ninel Krutova of Russia. With brilliant, intricate dives she won both events. Unfortunate competitor was Hanna Laursen of Denmark. At the end of what could have been a five dive, she twisted in mid-air and landed flat on her back with a loud splash.
Jurij Kassakov, Russian high diving champion, thrilled the large audience with his programme of exhibition dives from the high board.
