    IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW FILMED BY VISNEWS IN SALISBURY, DEC 10, THE PRIME MINISTER OF THE FEDERATION OF RHODESIA AND NYASALAND, SIR ROY WELENSKY, STRONGLY ATTACKED THE BRITISH PLAN TO SEND TWENTY-FOUR 1,000lb BOMBS TO THE UNITED NATIONS FORCES FIGHTING PRESIDENT TSHOMBE IN KATANGA. DURING THE PAST YEAR OF DISPUTE BETWEEN THE KATANGA GOVERNMENT AND THE UNITED NATIONS SIR ROY HAS SEVERAL TIMES ATTACKED THE ACTION TAKEN BY THE UN IN THE CONGO.

    SHORTLY BEFORE THE INTERVIEW WAS FILMED SIR ROY HAD ISSUED A STATEMENT WHICH ANNOUNCED THAT HE HAD INFORMED THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT THAT HE WOULD NOT ALLOW THE BOMBS TO BE TRANSPORTED "ACROSS ONE INCH OF FEDERAL SOIL". IN THE INTERVIEW HE WAS ASKED TO ENLARGE ON HIS STRONG STATEMENT.

    ON DEC 11, THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT SURPRISED THE HOUSE OF COMMONS IN LONDON, BY ANNOUNCING THAT NO BOMBS WOULD BE SENT TO KATANGA UNTIL THE HOUSE DEBATED THE ISSUE ON DEC 14. EVEN THEN THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT RELEASE THE BOMBS UNTIL THE UNITED NATIONS HAS MADE THEIR KATANGA POLICIES COMPLETELY CLEAR.
