    President Hassan Gouled of Djibouti arrived in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (14 March) for a three-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates.

    President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan this evening met with President Hassan Gouled of Djibouti at Al Batin Palace. The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohamed. Chief of the presidential court Sourour -- Bin Mohamed, Foreign Minister Ahmed Khalifa Al-Suweidi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Saeed Al Gaith and Djibouti Premier and Foreign Minister Abdulla Kamel.

    President Hassan Gouled of Djibouti arrived today in Abu Dhabi on a three-day official visit to the UAE. He was welcomed at the airport by UAE President Sheikh Zayed, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed forces Lt. General Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, Deputy Premier Sheikh Hamdan-Bin Mohammed, Commander in Chief Brigadier Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed, Ministers, senior officials and members of diplomatic corps.

    After a formal reception, Sheikh Zayed accompanied his distinguished guest to Al Mushraf Palace his officials residence during the visit.

    SYNOPSIS: The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zaid Bin Sultan Al-Nahayan met him at the airport. Officials said the two leaders were to have talks on ways of strengthening relations between their two countries. Officials said they would also discuss Arab and African issues of common interest. President Gouled flew in from Qatar.

    Both leaders share a mutual concern for the situation in the Horn of African, and in common with other African leaders who have visited Sheikh Sayed recently President Gouled is expected to seek financial support from the oil-rich Emirates. His country, which has yet to celebrate its first anniversary of independence is caught between Ethiopia and Somalia, not only geographically, but also economically and ethnically. The recent fighting between his neighbours has led President Gouled to seek support from the Arab States.
