  • Description

A vast wall of redhot lava from mount Etna came almost to a halt today (26th) less than 200 meters from the village of Fornazzo, and among the population that their homes hopes rose might yet be spared. Nevertheless army lorries stood by to evacuate anyone whose house was threatened, and carry away the belongings of; anyone wanting to take precautionary measures. At its present rate of progress the lava could still reach Fornazzo in four or five days if it ques not turn away.
