SPEECH (TRANSCRIPT) TO END
AL-MAGHARIAF: (SEQ 1) "This coup d'etat, which almost everyone in Libya welcomed, hoping that it would bring the change which we, we, which we feel fulfilled our aspirations, our hopes, our dreams for a second Libya. But as time passed, everyone started to realise, gradually, that this is not the change that everyone longed for, this is not the change everyone expected, or want. Efforts preceded this declaration, extended over a period of one, almost a year, and this has involved quite a large number of Libyans, inside and outside Libya, including former officials, former ministers, former diplomats, former officers, heads of tribes, businessmen, students, lawyers, and several other Libyans from different walks of life."

Background: INTRODUCTION: Mohamed Yusef Al-Maghariaf, former Libyan ambassador to the Sudan and head of the newly-formed National Front for the Salvation of Libya, held a press conference in Khartoum on Tuesday (20 October). The organisation is pledged to overthrow the government of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. It was noted that Sudan's Information Ministry openly hosted the conference at a time of tension, following Sudanese charges that neighbouring Libya was plotting to overthrow the Khartoum government.
