(Arrival Statement of His Eminence Jaime L. Cardinal Sin)
From the bottom of my hear, I thank all of you for having come here to meet me. I interpret your presence here tonight as a manifestation of your desire to express your support for me; I interpret it also as a sign of protest over the action of the military in stopping me from leaving last May 14.
The whole incident was most regrettable and embarrassing. I say it is regrettable because the action was entirely uncalled for and unwarranted. And it was embarrassing, not to me personally, but to the government in the face of its claims concerning human rights.
Until such time as I am apprised of all developments which took place in my absence. I prefer to reserve any more comment about the whole distasteful incident.
Again, thank you very much for your kindness in coming here to welcome me hole. It is most comforting to feel your love and support.
