    Background: Sir Winston Churchill was buried tonight in a rural churchyard near his birthplace after Britain and the world paid its respects in four hours of solemn pomp and ceremony.

    Following services at St.Paul's Cathedral, the coffin was carried through London streets to the River Thames where it was loaded on a launch for the 1.7-mile trip to a pier upriver.From there it was taken to a special train for the trip to Blen heim Palace.
