  • Description

In Nevada, the traditionally tough-male domain of rodeo riding was entered by women last week -- and like most of the men who took part, they ended up battered and bruised, but smiling.

The event was the World Championship Rodeo at Spring Creek, Nevada. Admittedly, it wasn't a complete takeover of what has always been very much a man's sport. Calf roping, for instance, called for lassoing the animal but not throwing it or tying it up. When it came to goat-tying, the animals were already staked out and waiting. But there were no comprises in bull riding, and what the ladies lacked in style they made up for in sheer courage.
