  • Description

At Manly this afternoon the Queen Mother was the guest of the Surf Life Saving Club which organises the biggest Australian Surf Carnival. From a dias on the beach she reviewed the march past of the life-saving teems and Carnival competitors. Each team, headed by its flag, marched through the shallow water in front of the dias.

After watching the various surf events Her Majesty toured the beach in a Land Rover. From this vehicle she obtained a closer view of the surf boats and the children who rushed from the sea for a better look at her.

In the Brilliant sunshine, contrasting favourably with the weather conditions of her Brisbane visit, the Queen Mother returned to the dias and then to her car that took her from the Carnival setting.
