    IT WAS BITTERLY COLD WEATHER AND THERE WAS ONLY A SMALL CROWD AT THE WARWICKSHIRE GROUND. SO COLD WAS THE WEATHER THAT THE INTERVAL RESERVED FOR REFRESHMENTS SAW HOT SOUP TAKEN OUT TO THE PLAYERS INSTEAD OF THE USUAL COLD DRINKS.

    COWDREY AND BARRINGTON PUSHED THE SCORE ALONG STEADILY, BARRINGTON THE SLOWER OF THE TWO.

THE NEW ZEALAND BOWLER COLLINGE GETTING TWO WICKETS FOR 63 RUNS IN 29 OVERS.

    PARKS REPLACED SMITH, AND IMMEDIATELY BEGAN "THROWING" THE BAT. HE ADDED 25 RUNS FROM THE 300 MARK IN 22 MINUTES. WHILE BARRINGTON, AT THE OTHER END FAILED TO SCORE. BARRINGTON ONLY MADE 24 RUNS IN THE TWO HOURS OF THE MORNING'S PLAY.
