  • Description

A QUESTION MARK OVER WASHINGTON AND PARIS, MAY 10 AS SPECULATION INCREASED OVER CHANGES OF AMBASSADORS - REPORTS SAID WEST GERMANY'S DR WILHELM GREWE, 50, WAS SOON TO LEAVE HIS WASHINGTON POST UNDER PRESSURE FROM THE US STATE DEPARTMENT. A MAN TIPPED TO SUCCEED HIM: AMBASSADOR BLANCKENHORN, THE WEST GERMAN AMBASSADOR IN PARIS.

US REPORTS SAID THE STATE DEPARTMENT BEWAILED THE EXISTENCE OF TWO WEST GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTERS - ONE OF THEM SEEMINGLY TO BE HERR GREWE, AT A TIME WHEN THE US WAS ATTEMPTING TO FIND ITS OWN WAY TOWARDS A BERLIN SETTLEMENT. OTHER REPORTS UNDERLINED UNEASE IN BONN OVER PERSONAL AND POLICY DIFFERENCES WITH HERR GREWE.
